About Us
Northern Michigan Drum Village is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Our mission is to be the number one percussive arts experience in Northern Michigan. The goal is to provide the community with healthy and engaging percussive arts experiences in northern Michigan— especially for special groups and those who have been blocked (for whatever reason) from participating in music before. These are fun and encouraging activities. No previous experience is necessary and the ability to read music is not required. Musicians are welcome too, of course.
Executive Director Lynn Turner leads drum circles and drum aerobic classes. To further the ‘drum line’ of offerings, the organization’s intention is to hire drum instructors who will come to this region and teach world class rhythms from many different cultures.
The organization is supported by class fees, foundation grants, and private donations.
Experience joy with rhythm! Give it a try. Follow the ‘Classes & Event’ tab to see upcoming activities. Come and drum, laugh, and dance in the Drum Aerobic classes. Or drop into a drum circle and share your beat with the collective whole. If you can clap your hands, you can do this!
